Welsh Government

Wales Climate Week returned in November 2024, bringing people together from across Wales to learn and explore innovative solutions for tackling and adapting to climate change. The Week this year coincided with the United Nations COP29 climate change conference and provided an opportunity for climate decision-makers, stakeholders, community groups and people from across Wales to explore how together we can minimise the risk and prepare for the impacts of climate change, as well as capitalising on the links with climate mitigation.

Delegates joined in on discussions about action taking place internationally and within Wales to adapt our homes, communities and businesses to increasing heatwaves, droughts, storms, floods and coastal erosion. Learn more about how we can safeguard our food production systems, natural resources, infrastructure and built environment and ensure we are prepared for a more climate resilient future.

This year’s programme included the following events and activities:

5-day virtual conference

Taking place between Monday 11th - Friday 15th November, the target audience for the conference was climate stakeholders (e.g. public sector, industry and business networks and third sector organisations) with a role in delivering climate policies, programmes and initiatives. But attendance was not restricted, and registration was free to anyone interested in joining the discussion.

Climate Conversations fund

Applications for the climate conversation fund have now closed. The aim of the fund is to support organisations with established links to community groups to host local events to encourage people to join in on conversations around the central theme for the Week, “adapting to our changing climate”.

The deadline for Climate Conversation applications was Monday 14th October 2024.
